New Poker Generation

Some say that the popularity of poker stems from all the television shows that have brought poker to millions of people across the globe. Everyone watches, or at least can watch poker, and most do so. Poker has replaced video game among many teenagers as well, and all this with the blessing of their parents. Concerned parents say that they prefer that their children play poker, since the game is far more social, and it is a game that both sharpens the mind and improves social skills.

Technologically speaking, poker is more accessible to many, now that the online casinos have made their debut. No longer do people have to go all the way to the Las Vegas or Atlantic City casinos in order to play. Now, all they have to do is to go online, play the poker variation that they like, and all from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Even in the online casinos, where you are playing with strangers there is camaraderie between the players, even if they are playing against each other.

Perhaps another reason why people like to play poker is because of all the celebrities that have begun to play it recently. You can see them in poker clubs, in the casinos of Las Vegas, and most visibly, in the poker tournaments on television. While it does not appear that celebrities play poker in greater proportion that ordinary people, they are more visible. Many people like to emulate the actions of their favorite celebrities, so they take up poker because of this. While most of the people who begin to play poker because of this will no doubt stop at one point, chances are that they will quit at some point. however, there are enough new poker players to continue to the new generation of poker players.
